We aim to resource and facilitate community for homeschool families at Sound Life Church and in the surrounding area. If you're not sure if homeschooling may be a good fit, or you need resources or information on state requirements please email our Homeschool Coordinator! Looking to get prepared to homeschool in the future? Or for resources to talk about complicated topics with your kids and prepare them for the curriculum being taught in schools? We're here for that too!
We would love to help you disciple the children in your home, regardless of schooling status!
HOMESCHOOL CO-OP
We are so excited to have you join our team, and look forward to building a supportive community where our children can flourish. This co-op is a parent-led enrichment co-op, not an academic program, and parents are expected to stay on campus during all activities, and will volunteer as a teacher or classroom helper with one of the classes. The preschool class is only available to families with school-age children enrolled in the co-op. School-age children are those who are 5 on or before the start date of September 5th, and are fully responsible for their own toileting.
Families need to understand that Sound Life Homeschool Co-op is a ministry of Sound Life Church and will reflect it's core beliefs. Co-op will begin and end with prayer, and will teach from a biblical worldview. Participating families are expected to read and sign the parent handbook, and are responsible to help students understand and follow the code of conduct.
Semester Registration Fee: $25
All parents will need to file a background check through the church, and this registration fee will cover base operating costs and background checks. Subsequent semesters will offer a discount to returning families with current background checks.
COMMUNITY
If you are currently homeschooling and looking for a community to connect with, we are gearing up for a first-year co-op! This well be an elective co-op, held one day per week at the Orting Valley campus. Please contact our Homeschool Coordinator if you are interested in being involved.
RESOURCES
We host informational meetings periodically throughout the year, with the goal of preparing and equipping you.
If homeschooling sounds overwhelming or you're not sure if it's for you, come and find out at Homeschool 101! We talk about common misconceptions surrounding homeschooling and consider common reasons that people choose to homeschool. You will walk out with resources to understand and meet homeschooling requirements, and we will steer you to finding an ideology and curriculum that will match your family. Come, see if homeschooling may be a good fit for you!
If you’ve decided to begin homeschooling, Start Strong will give you tips and tricks to start the year well! Ask questions of veteran homeschoolers, and bring your curriculum if you have specific questions. Maybe you're deciding between a couple of curriculum options and just need an outside perspective, we can talk those through too! We will discuss possible ways to structure your week/day, and you can look through some record-keeping examples to see what may work for you.
